Dear Dave,
I collect those beautiful, red, decorative chile pepper bottles, and I’d like to learn how to do it myself. Do you know where I can find the instructions on how to do this, including where to find the red waxy stuff at the top?

Hello Kenpl145:
There are two ways to accomplish this: placing the chiles in an oil or water, which makes them inedible but beautiful, or pickling them so that when you get tired of looking at them, you can eat them. For instructions on pickling, see:
http://www.fiery-foods.com/dave/pickle.html. To place them in oil or water, simply fill the jars with decoratively arranged chiles and fill with canola oil or water. To seal the tops, go to a craft store such as Hobby Lobby and buy red sealing wax.
