Dave:
Having grown up in the Chicago area a hot dog or Italian Beef sandwich requires two (or more) "Sport" peppers. While these pickled peppers are available in every grocery store in Chicagoland where I live now I have to travel 100 miles to stock up. Exactly what kind of peppers are these and where can I get a recipe for pickling my own?
Thanks,
Steve from Lancaster, Ohio

Steve:
Sport peppers are a commercial variety that are commonly grown in the South and Midwest and are usually pickled. The plants are available from www.chileplants.com . There are numerous mail order sources on the web, including www.peppers.com . See our article on pickling peppers.
