I was just reading your Q&A page about preparing for a Habanero Competition. You said, "It’s best not to eat hot chiles on an empty stomach." I’ve been wondering about that very thing since I’ve been taking cayenne caps (after reading The Healing Powers Of Peppers). Although I can take the burning sensation pretty well by now, it did take a while to get used to that nagging heartburn sensation. And now I’m going to up the heat scale to 90K scovies (from 60K). So I was wondering if taking the caps with a meal is counter productive, or can I still get as many benefits as quickly even though I’m not getting the full burn? On a side note I find that my stamina has increased, and my appetite has decreased since I’ve been taking these caps twice a day for about three weeks now. I’m glad I read your book.

Regardless of whether or not your stomach is full, the chile will be digested and the capsaicin will enter your blood stream. So I think that to avoid the burning sensation, you should have something in your stomach. Glad to hear that you are feeling great with the cayenne treatment.
