Q:  Hello Dave,

What is the best pest control for aphids and other pests on just-germinated sprouts from chile seeds? I live in Upstate New York and an aerosol would not contaminate the area.  I am growing habaneros, Tobascos, Thai dragon and Scotch bonnets. They are being started inside, until mature.

A: Hello Mike:

I gently mist the area with Raid Flying Insect Killer, taking care not to spray the plants directly.  This stuff kills all the bad guys.  Then, I go to it a couple of days later and spray everything down with water.  This is non-organic, of course, but it does not affect the pods because it is applied so early in the growing cycle.
