Q:  Greetings Dave,

I am a young entrepreneur looking to start a hot sauce company.  My family has been growing peppers in the mountains of Panama for 20 years and now I wish to bring some of that experience here. I have almost chosen a co-packer.  I am now trying to find distributors to help me market my product and put it on the market.  Could you recommend a few? I am in the Miami area. Also, I have not worked out a good marketing plan as I have been juggling between trying to go to specialty stores with my product, or if I should shoot for the moon and attempt a supermarket approach?  Any advice is helpful, as I am fairly new to this game but have allot of drive to make this work.

Thank you!

Carlos

A:  Hola Carlos:

First, read all of the articles located here: http://www.fiery-foods.com/e-zines.asp  Until you have an actual product to present them, it is a waste of time to contact distributors.  Get back to me when you are farther along.  Do not launch a company with a single product.  I would advise at least 3, with some unique selling proposition.  There are so many product lines out there, you will need to stand apart.  Maybe it will have something to do with your Panamanian heritage.
