I have recently begun researching the hot sauce industry. As avid hot sauce lovers, myself and my husband are interested in creating our own hot sauce to be put on the market. I have downloaded much of my reserach from this website and have found other avenues directed from this site. I think the College of Chile Knowledge has been a great help. There are just a few areas I would like to find some research in and been having some difficulty. I was hoping that you may be of some assistance. Relating to hot sauce, besides consumption, is there any data stating the areas of distribution, from high distributed states to the lowest. Exactly, how many hotsauces are out there? and how many different varieties? I look forward to hearing from you soon.
There is no group or organization keeping stats on the fiery-foods industry, so this information has been pieced together. As far as consumption by states, I would say the two largest consuming states are Texas and California. Least consuming states–I don’t know, but maybe Rhode Island and North Dakota. This is mostly a population guess. As far as the total number of hot sauces manufactured around the world, I guess ten thousand.
Hope this helps.
