Dave:
We recently purchased a plant and we want to learn how to take care of it. It has small purple peppers about the size of a thumb, small light purple flowers, green/purple leaves. I believe the plant originated in South America and contains the name ’Diablo’. It is an annual here. We love the plant and want to know how to keep it growing and if the peppers are edible (and how hot?).
Thanks for any help you might have.

Leslee:
If it is in the ground, carefully dig it up, leaving a lot of soil around the roots. Plant it in a large plastic pot with plenty of potting soil. Bring it indoors to a south-facing window. It may drop some leaves and you may have to prune it back. Remember that indoor plants are subject to attack by cats, spider mites, whitefly, and aphids. Good luck! All peppers are edible. To find out how hot it is, bite into a pod!
