Dr. BBQ:

Loved your first book! I’ve gotten rave reviews from my friends and family on just about every recipe, rub andsauce I’ve used out of it! Just got your new book yesterday and having thumbed through several pages, I can tell it’s going to be a great one as well! What’s your honest opinion on Britt’s Barbecue cook school? I mean, I know Myron is one of the instructors and he definitely has some expertise to share, but is it worth the $500? I mean- $500 bucks would sure go a long ways toward the cost of my new smoker (Really, I want two–an Egg for steaks and small amounts of meat and a Stumpsmoker for larger quantities) but I know I could learn a lifetime of lessons in just two days. The school is being held right here close to my hometown (I live in Live Oak, Fla., and the school is in White Springs, Fla.) and I want to take advantage of it, but I’m just trying to justify spending that much -because I really haven’t talked to anyone who has attended one. I welcome your comments and/or suggestions. Again, thanks for all the great recipes, tips and guidance and good luckon the circuit.

Hi Damon,

Sorry for the delay and thanks for the nice words. True, $500 is a lot of cash but if you are competing in cookoffs you’ll be spending plenty of $500s and trying to win many more. I’d predict that you’ll win your money back because Myron Mixon is absolutely one of the best ever and you will learn a ton from him. Go and have fun.
