Hi Dr. BBQ:

What is a good way to get that nasty lighter fuel taste out of your food, or at least a good way to spice it so it tastes good?

Mary

Hi Mary,

The easiest way is to quit using that nasty stuff! There are other ways to light charcoal that work well without that lighter fluid taste. I like the little firestarter squares that are made from sawdust and paraffin for lighting lump charcoal. As soon as the paraffin burns off you are good to go. For charcoal briquettes I find that a charcoal chimney works best. Load it up and light it with newspaper and when the chimney gets going just pour the lit coals in the grill and mix them with some unlit coals. Charcoal is a little more trouble than gas but the great taste is easily worth it.
