Hi Dr. BBQ:

Well, after watching a BBQ challenge on the Versus Channel a few weeks back I followed the web address I saw to your website and after browsing through all the info I bought the Big Time BBQ cookbook. Just did my first recipe from it and the Backyard Championship ribs were incredible!! Great recipe–can’t wait to try some more. I’ve done other recipes from other authors and books but none were as easy and tasted so good! Hats off to you. Now for my question, I made up a batch of the Big-Time Rub and it worked great but after I buy all the ingredients it really adds $$ up, so I’m thinking I”d be better off just buying it all ready made…so is their a Dizzy Pig rub that is the same or very close to having the same ingredients? I see so many listed just not sure if any would be a close match. Keep up the good work.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for the nice words. I’m glad you like the book. That rub isn’t available anywhere. I like the Dizzy Pig Rubs so that’s why I promote them on my site. I have also sold my own rubs over the years but that one was just for the book. You need to find a better source for spices than the grocery store. I buy a lot at Sam’s Club in those 1-pound containers but I also buy from Pendery’s out of Texas. Look around and you should be able to find a cheaper and better quality source than the grocery store.
