Hi Dave,
Somewhere out there I came across a site featuring rotating, drum smokers for turning jalapenos into chipotles, and they worked off gas. I believe the prices began around $100 and went up based on size. Can you help me locate someone who sells these? Thanks very much.

Hello David:
You’re thinking of chile roasters for getting the skins off of New Mexican chiles. Chipotles are not smoked in that manner, but rather in enclosed smokers like the ones used for meats. Any smoker, and even a kettle charcoal grill, can be used. See our article on the subject.
