I want to smoke a deer roast but have never done it can you tell me how long and what some good seasonings are?
I'd smoke it for a few hours, put it on a aluminum foil pan, pour a beer over it, cover with foil and cook until tender. There are just too many variables for me to tell you how long yours will take on your smoker. Just poke it with a fork to test it.
Marinating the deer roast overnight in buttermilk gives it a nice flavor and helps to tenderize it. Any good BBQ rub will work and you can lay bacon on it as it smokes to help with the taste and keeping it juicy.
